Eating well when appetite gets smaller

Our dietitian's practical tips for more nutrition in fewer bites.

Appetite naturally shrinks with age, and medications can dull taste. The goal shifts from bigger meals to more nourishing ones.

Small and often

Five or six small meals are easier than three large ones. Keep favourite snacks visible and within reach.

Boost every bite

Add olive oil, nut butters, cheese or Greek yoghurt to familiar dishes. Smoothies are an easy way to pack in protein and fruit.

Eat together

People eat more in company. Even a video call at dinnertime can help.
